Practicums

Portfolio Practicum—Invest more than $6 million of University endowment funds during this two-semester course.iJay Practicum —Gain hands-on experience running a retail store through this course. Heider students do it all at the iJay Store, an Apple™ Authorized Campus Store.

 

Competitions

Heider College of Business Experiential Learning Argy Bargy and Murphy Cup

Argy Bargy—That’s British slang for a noisy and often heated discussion, but here it’s a competition where business intelligence and analytics students team up to develop the best mobile apps.Murphy Cup—Tackle a marketing challenge and present solutions to a panel of judges from corporations, such as NIKE, Inc., during this annual collaborative marketing competition.

Entrepreneurship Programs

3-Day Startup (3DS)— Create and pitch business technology plans to potential investors during this 72-hour programming marathon.
The Startup Collaborative— Help a real life business owner kickstart their company through an internship with The Startup Collaborative.
HALO Institute— Start your own business as a part of the entrepreneurship track in our Management major with our on-campus incubator.

Creighton Business Symposium—Discuss current issues with top global executives during the nation’s largest student-led business symposium.

Value Investment Panel (VIP)—Hear from the nation’s experts on value investing during this student-led panel, which coincides with the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting.

 

Travel Courses

Heider College of Business Experiential Learning Travel Courses

Business Travel Courses—See how textbook theories are put into practice through trips to:

  • Australia: interact with executives and learn about the business environment and challenges faced by Australian businesses in a global context;
  • New York City with finance and accounting faculty for “Wall Street Week;”
  • San Francisco/Silicon Valley with marketing and business intelligence and analytics majors to explore the world of retail, service and technology industries;
  • Las Vegas Travel Course, open to all business students to study the business and economics behind America’s largest gambling city.
  • South Africa to spend two weeks immersed in the country’s business environment and culture; and
  • China to spend two weeks meeting with executives to understand cross-cultural business practices and how business development transforms culture and society.
