“I strongly believe that whatever you put in is what you will get out,” says Vanessa Juardo. Education coupled with opportunities and experiences – that is what drew the Holdrege native to Creighton two years ago instead of an out of state school, as she originally intended.
“I knew Creighton had the reputation in Nebraska as ‘where the smart people go,’ but I thought I should consider looking out of state because I would be leaving my comfort zone,” says Juardo of her college selection process. But family ties kept her in Nebraska and Creighton’s Dean’s Fellows Program, high employment rates and plethora of internships cemented her decision to enroll in the Heider College of Business.
Jurado feels Creighton has prepared her for the internship opportunities she had and her inevitable career after she graduated. From the Career Portfolio program, to Jeremy Fisher’s one-on-one guidance, to tours of Omaha’s Fortune 500 companies, these experiences have enhanced her business education.
“I could not have asked for a better education than the one I received here at Creighton,” Jurado asserts. “But that’s the thing; it’s not just the classroom education that makes this experience better than any other school, it’s the opportunities and experiences combined with the formal education.”
