New Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Susie Pryor

Susie Pryor, Ph.D., associate professor of marketing

New department of marketing and management faculty member, Susie Pryor, Ph.D., associate professor of marketing, really isn’t new to the Heider College of Business. In 2005, she served as a visiting professor at Creighton. She looks forward to returning to the University, where she hopes to not only develop innovative, thoughtful business professionals but socially responsible and ethical business leaders in the Jesuit tradition. Dr. Pryor returns to Creighton from California State San Bernardino. She has also taught at Missouri Western State University, Keller Graduate School and Washburn University. She earned her B.A. in management and human relations and M.B.A. from MidAmerica Nazarene University before going on to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for her Ph.D. in marketing. For her dedication to her students at both UNL and Washburn University, she received excellence in teaching awards.

Dr. Pryor brings a wealth of experience in small business ownership to the Heider classroom. She has established several businesses: Tallgrass Communications, LC in Topeka, KS; Blue Dandelion, LC, a children’s boutique in Lawrence, KS; European grocery store, Au March, Inc., in Lawrence and Brits, Inc., Purveyors of British Goods, also in Lawrence.  Brits and Au Marche were based on business plans she wrote in her undergraduate and graduate programs, respectively. Dr. Pryor channels her entrepreneurial spirit into the classroom. “My passion is working with students to achieve their individual goals,” she explains. Given her vast personal experience as a small business owner, students in Kansas and California have sought her advice on establishing their own ventures, resulting in over 20 new businesses ranging from wineries and breweries to advertising and art production. Dr. Pryor serves on the Youth Entrepreneurs of Kansas Regional Advisory Board and the Weed and Seed of Topeka, KS Advisory Council and is a member of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs.
