Henkels and his wife, Debbie, BA’83, are proud Creighton alumni who cherish their educations and believe in the value that it brought to their lives. They have five children. Henkels made his way to Creighton University from Chicago and played four years of varsity baseball. He was twice named to the Missouri Valley All-Conference team.
The Henkels have maintained a strong, supportive tie to Creighton. Each year, Moelis & Company hosts Heider College of Business students during their weeklong New York travel course. The couple also established the Mark and Deborah Henkels Endowed Baseball Scholarship and contributed to the Heider “Ignite the Greatness” campaign.
The Henkels also have been active in their parish, Immaculate Heart of Mary, for many years. As a member of its capital campaign committee, Henkels put his finance background to use, helping to secure the parish’s future. He also has worked with the City of Newark Police Department, serving on its advisory council and working to raise money for, among other items, state-of-the-art protective armor and communication devices for its officers. Henkels also is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
