Biography

Dr. Mary Dana Laird is an associate professor of management in the Heider College of Business. Dr. Laird was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. After graduating from Southwestern University, she worked for an educators’ union in Austin, TX. Dr. Laird then earned a master’s degree in human resource management from Texas A&M University and worked in HR for Zale Corporation in Irving, TX. These experiences led her to Florida State University where she earned a doctorate in organizational behavior and human resource management. For over a decade, Mary Dana has taught management classes to undergraduate and graduate students. She is interested in stress, reputation, organizational politics, and individual differences and has published 20 peer-reviewed articles in a variety of academic journals and books. In her free time, Mary Dana likes to hike, travel, and search for authentic Mexican food with her husband, Jim, and daughter, Julie.
