The MBA/MS-ITM program allows students to combine the business focus provided by the MBA with the technology management thrust of the MS-ITM degree. The streamlined program can be done in considerably less time and cost than if the two degrees were earned separately. With both degrees, students will have an impressive collection of general managerial and technology skills and competencies.
Eligibility for Admission
Applicants for admission to the MBA/MS-ITM program must have a baccalaureate degree, regardless of the undergraduate field of study, and an acceptable level of scholarship from an accredited institution of higher education. Students entering the program will also need to show evidence that they have completed at least one statistics course in their undergraduate degree, as well as a computer programming class or evidence of programming experience. Students without a statistics class may complete instead a non-credit statistics tutorial offered by the college for a fee.
All students in the MBA/MS-ITM program must complete the following ITM Core:
- ITM 734 Human Factors in Information Systems
- ITM 782 Data Base Management Systems
- ITM 788 Business Information Analysis and Process Design
- MBA 776 Business, Ethics and Society
All MBA/MS-ITM students will also complete two core MBA courses that address business processes and skills fundamental to Creighton’s Jesuit and values-based mission. Creighton’s MBA/MS-ITM program emphasizes how business leaders apply sound and coherent ethical principles to serve its stakeholders and society for the common good. To support this emphasis, all MBA/MS-ITM students complete the following courses:
- MBA 771 Leadership and Organizational Behavior
- MBA 775 Business Policy and Managerial Action
Plan of Study
All MBA/MS-ITM students will work with the Graduate Business Programs office to develop a plan of study reflecting the students’ academic and work backgrounds, business competencies, and career goals. Plans of Study will consist of courses from the Functional Core and/or from an extensive list of Concentration courses. The relative emphasis of a student’s plan of study in each of these areas will depend on each student’s academic and business background.
Students who are new to the study of business because they hold neither an undergraduate degree in business nor have extensive business work experience may be required to take some or all of the functional core classes. Students who hold undergraduate business degrees or have extensive business experience may elect to take one or more of these courses with the approval of the Associate Dean for Graduate Business Program’s office or may elect to move directly to concentration courses.

These business courses cover advanced topics in accounting, finance, economics, marketing, and management. To ensure appropriate breadth and depth:
- Students must take one course in each of two of four functional areas (accounting, finance, economics, and marketing); and
- Students may take a maximum of two courses beyond MBA 771 in the management area.
Lists of courses included in each functional area are posted on the college web site and available from the Dean’s office.
Students should select Elective courses based on their area of interest. All 15 hours must be 700-level ITM courses. Note that students who have not successfully completed MIS 253 or an equivalent course MUST take ITM 731 as an elective. Students may elect an area of emphasis in Digital Business by completing ITM 710, ITM 770 and ITM 790 as three of their elective courses. Possible ITM elective courses include:
