2011 Planning Team

Nick Engelbart, Co-Coordinator

Nick Engelbart is a Senior Finance and Economics major from West Point, Nebraska. Upon graduation, Nick plans on seeking a career in private wealth management. Nick has served as a finance intern at Union Pacific and currently holds an internship position as a financial analyst at McCarthy Capital, an Omaha based private equity firm. Nick's primary roles at McCarthy involve financial analysis and due diligence on prospective investment partnerships. As well as serving as a Co-coordinator for the Symposium, Nick also serves as the VP of the Financial Management Association, the President of Beta Gamma Sigma, and the CFO of the Creighton Student Business Ethics Alliance. He is also involved in the Anna Tyler Waite Leadership Program, Portfolio Practicum and is a College of Business Student Ambassador. He believes that after hard work and months of planning, this year's Symposium should be another extraordinary opportunity for students and business professionals.

Keith Weeces, Co-Coordinator

Keith Weeces is a Senior Finance and Economics major from Minden, Nebraska.  Upon graduation he plans to work in a career in finance and will pursue an MBA degree.  In addition to his role as a Co-coordinator of the 2011 Symposium Team, Keith currently works as an analytics and treasury intern with Javlin Capital, a specialty finance firm in Omaha, and a research assistant under Dr. Ernie Goss.  He assists Dr. Goss with economic impact studies, as well as, regional surveys of the Midwestern states. He is also involved in Anna Tyler Waite Leadership Program, is the treasurer Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society for business students.  Keith believes the 2011 Symposium will be the best and most interactive one yet and will help students find their passion in business and leadership.  By interacting with alumni and professionals, Creighton students get to network and gain exposure to the business world beyond the classroom.

Anne Adams

Anne Adams is a Senior Marketing and Economics major from St. Paul, Minnesota.  Upon graduation, Anne hopes to work in a field related to her major and potentially attend graduate school.  In addition to her role on the 2011 Symposium Team, Anne is actively involved with the Anna Tyler Waite Leadership program, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and is the Vice President of Compliance and Communication for the American Marketing Association.  Anne also spends her time volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.  Anne believes that the 2011 Symposium will be a great success by inspiring students to pursue their passions and to develop their leadership skills.  She is grateful to have been a part of planning an event that provides a valuable opportunity to network with successful business professionals.

Sarah Burton

Alyssa Cervantes

Alyssa Cervantes is a Junior Economics major from Las Cruces, New Mexico.  Upon graduation, Alyssa hopes to continue her education in graduate school or work in a field related to her major.  In addition to the Creighton Business Symposium Team, Alyssa is currently involved in the Anna Tyler Waite Leadership Program, National Society for Collegiate Scholars, and is the Vice President of New Member Education for the Delta Zeta sorority.  Alyssa also does weekly volunteering in the Omaha community and serves as the Eucharistic Minister for St. John's Parish.  She sees the Business Symposium as a great opportunity for students to gain insight and understanding of different aspects of the business world, through the eyes of its professionals.  Finally, she would like to thank all those who have contributed to the success of this event.

Hannah Eberle

Hannah Eberle is a Senior Accounting and Finance major, Spanish minor from Denver, Colorado.  Upon graduation she hopes to attend Creighton University's dental school and go on to run her own orthodontic practice.  In addition to the Business Symposium Team, Hannah is a freshman Resident Advisor, actively involved in the Anna Tyler Waite Leadership program, and a member of Gamma Phi Beta.  She also enjoys coaching 13-year-old girls' club volleyball and playing intramurals on campus.  Hannah is excited to be a part of the Symposium Team and share her passion for business with fellow students.  She believes that the Creighton Business Symposium is a great program and useful resource which helps students realize their potential for the future.

Chris Franz

Chris Franz is a Sophomore Finance and Economics major with a German Studies minor from West Des Moines, IA.  After graduation Chris plans to pursue a career in Finance and potentially attend law school as well.  In addition to his role on the 2011 Symposium Team, Chris is involved in the Anna Tyler Waite Leadership Program, German Club, intramural sports, and Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.  Chris also spends time each week tutoring Sudanese refugee students at the local Mason apartments, and also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity.  Chris believes that the hard work put on by this year's team will allow the 2011 Symposium to build upon the success of previous years to continue making the Symposium an excellent opportunity for Creighton students to gain real-world exposure and insight from some of the top professionals in the business world.

Annie Kawamoto

Annie Kawamoto is a Senior Marketing, Finance, and Social Entrepreneurship major from Irmo, South Carolina.  Upon graduation, Annie hopes to open her own business and eventually return to school to receive her MBA.  In addition to her role as the Marketing Chair on the 2011 Symposium Team, Annie is actively involved in the Anna Tyler Waite Leadership program, the American Marketing Association, and the Gamma Phi Beta sorority.  Annie also spends time each week tutoring Sudanese refugee students at the local Mason apartments, and working as the Marketing Intern for the College of Business.  Annie anticipates that this symposium will only continue to grow and improve upon the previous years.  She is excited to be a part of a program that facilitates communication and networking between the Creighton students and the business world’s top professionals.

Amy Lien

Amy Lien is a Sophomore International Business/Spanish major.  She is from Omaha and after graduation hopes to further education at graduate school or take some time off working in a non-profit organization such as the Peace Corps.  In addition to her role on the Symposium Team, Amy is involved in the Anna Tyler Waite Leadership Program, Markoe Leaders Program, Spanish Club, CU Stars, Student Philanthropy Committee, and Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.  Currently Amy works in the Creighton Undergraduate Admissions and as a part-time nanny.  She enjoys tutoring English to newly arrived Guatemalan families in her free time.  Amy is thrilled to be a part of a program that is dedicated to educating leaders and inspiring change.  She hopes all students embrace this opportunity to gain business knowledge and networking exposure outside of the classroom.

David Messick

David Messick is a Senior Marketing major with a History minor. He is from Rockhurst High School and lived in Leawood, Kansas. In addition to his second year with the Creighton University Business Symposium, David is also involved in Anna Tyler Waite, the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and Creighton Running Club. David believes that the 2011 Symposium has the potential to be our best Symposium ever, and he is eager for students to experience the amazing and dynamic speakers the Symposium showcases this year. He has been privileged to have worked with such a dedicated and enjoyable team. He hopes everyone will enjoy the wonderful Symposium brought to you for the students, by the students.

Joy Schaefer

Joy Schaefer is a Senior Accounting major from Rockford, Illinois.  In addition to her participation on the Business Symposium Team, Joy is an intern at ConAgra Foods, a member of the Anna Tyler Waite Leadership program, and is a math tutor for both Creighton students and area high school students.  Joy believes that this year's Symposium will provide Creighton business students with a greater understanding of current business issues.

Erin Taylor

Erin Taylor is a Sophomore Accounting and Finance major from Littleton, Colorado.  After graduation, she would like to pursue a career as a Certified Public Accountant.  In addition to the leadership team for the 2011 Creighton Business Symposium, Erin is involved in the Anna Tyler Waite Business Leadership Program, Jays for Christ, and College Republicans.  She believes the 2011 Symposium will be a wonderful opportunity for students to hear from and connect with a wide range of business professionals.  She hopes the panel sessions will ignite students' imaginations and stimulate exciting discussion.

Jeremy Fisher, Advisor

Jeremy Fisher is the Associate Director of the Creighton Career Center and his primary focus is working with Business Career Programs for the College of Business students, alumni, and employers.  Jeremy also serves as the Program Coordinator for Level Four of the Anna Tyler Waite Center for Leadership and is an Advisor for the student planning teams of the Creighton Business Symposium and the Youth Leadership Omaha program.

Jeremy graduated from The University of Iowa with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Human Relations and has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree  from Creighton University.  From 1998-2004, he was employed as a Staffing Supervisor & Recruiter for Noll Human Resource Services, a staffing and recruiting firm in Omaha, Nebraska.  He has experience in recruiting and hiring at all levels in numerous business industries.  Jeremy is also a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR), a member of the local Human Resource Association of the Midlands (HRAM), the national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and its regional Midwest association (MwACE).  He has been employed at Creighton University since 2004.
